Charity of the Month during October 2026 Age Concern – Fuengirola, Mijas, Benalmádena

 

Age Concern Fuengirola Mijas & Benalmádena is an independent local charity run solely by volunteers and governed by an Executive Committee.

 

They provide a variety of services and offer a wide range of activities and opportunities to English speaking people over the age of 50 every week, including those who may be vulnerable or socially isolated. As a charity they strive to improve the quality of their services and to develop strong relationships in the community in an environment where funding is scarce, and collaboration and integration of services are key.

 

Age Concern exists to care for and work with older adults and their carers in and around the Fuengirola, Mijas & Benalmádena community to improve their quality of life through the promotion of choice, opportunity and independence by implementing their core values:

• Listening : Being approachable, accessible and responsible. Caring about what older adults think, taking account of their views; Caring about what older adults need, asking what is important to them.

• Enabling : Offering people as little or as much support as they need to help themselves.

• Influencing : Ensuring that the voice of older adults is heard on matters which concern them.

• Empowering : Providing people with choices based on reliable up to date information.

• Effectiveness : Ensuring good standards in all their services, focussing on the outcomes for older adults.
