ADIMI is the acronym of the Association for people with intellectual disabilities of Mijas "Virgen de la Peña". This association was created in September 1999, by a group of fathers and mothers with the same common denominator; a child with some type of disability.
The main objective of ADIMI is:
Defend the rights and improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and their families in the territorial area of the province of Malaga.
Their comprehensive care center has different services, covering people with disabilities from 0 to 100 years old.
Among their services are:
❖ EARLY ATTENTION: aimed at children from 0 to 6 years, funded by the Junta de Andalucía, from where they offer speech therapy, physiotherapy and psychology.
❖ YOUNG CHILD ATTENTION: which welcomes people with disabilities from 6 years and older, from this service psychology therapies are given to people with disabilities as well as their families, speech therapy therapies, occupational therapy and physiotherapy.
❖ OCCUPATIONAL WORKSHOP: aimed at people 16 years of age and older, affected by some intellectual disability, with a medium-high level of autonomy and with the aim of training and preparing the group for a possible incorporation into the labour market.
❖ DAY STATION UNIT: which welcomes people 16 years of age and older affected by intellectual disability who generally have a low degree of autonomy.
The Integral Care Center is located in Mijas Costa, in C / Candilera de la Torre, nº 5, and consists of 1,900 m2. The services are currently offered continuously from 08:00 in the morning to 20:30 in the afternoon, Monday through Friday, covering a total of approximately 112 families a day.
In addition to working with and for individuals with disabilities and their family, ADIMI also work with the society around them, trying to adapt it to everyone's needs.
